Chatham Islands Junior Art Awards 2023

Rēkohu – Chatham Islands - Wharekauri

The Chatham Islands Junior Art Awards is open to all pre-school and primary school child residing on Chatham and Pitt Islands and there is no entry fee. Children can enter each category once with a limit of two categories only.

All entries will be displayed in the exhibition held at the Chatham Islands Museum’s Heritage Gallery.

ENTRIES OPEN: 28 February 2023

ENTRIES CLOSE: 31 March 2023

ART DELIVERY BY: 14 April 2023

JUDGING: 21 April 2023

AWARDS CEREMONY: 28 April 2023

EXHIBITION: 28 April 2023 – 12 May 2023

ART COLLECTION: 15 May 2023

The Chatham Islands Junior Art Awards are presented and judged in five sponsored categories:

  • Painting

  • Drawing

  • Object Art includes carving and weaving

  • Photography

  • Chatham Islands Junior Artist

All entries automatically go into the Resident Chatham Islands award. All entries receive a prize.

Awards will be presented for each category by age group with an overall award presented to the Junior Artist of the year 2023.
